"The King of Swerve" Shane Strickland had signed on as part of Lucha Underground dating back to February 2015.  As Killshot, he would go on to win the trios tag team titles with Willie Mack and the Son of Havoc.
The reigning PCW Ultra Heavyweight Champion was rumored to have signed with the WWE and was to debut for them (presumably NXT) in January.  However that Lucha Underground contract prevented him from doing so.  His Lucha Underground contract didn't prevent him from continuing his work just about anywhere else including EVOLVE, DEFY, CRASH, MLW, House of Hardcore, and All American Wrestling.

Roughly at five o'clock pacific time this morning, the reigning PCW Ultra Heavyweight Champion Shane Strickland announced his return to free agency.  Assuming Strickland is now free to sign with anyone.  The landscape of professional wrestling is radically different then it was even just a month ago.  Ring of Honor is looking to strengthen its roster, All Elite Wrestling is looking to grow its roster, WWE is always signing top tier talents and that's not to mention Impact, Major League Wrestling or whatever might come next.

Srickland is scheduled to defend his PCW Ultra Heavyweight Championship against Brian Cage Saturday January 18th in Wilmington CA.
